Noobie Foodie│ Fratelli Fresh Valentines Special

This is an extremely belated post – ONE MONTH LATE! But to celebrate Valentine’s Day my best friend/wifey/hubby and I went to have dinner at Fratelli Fresh in Wynyard because we were both sick of eating Asian food none stop and wanted to try something different!
The sad thing is we didn’t really eat all that much because I was leaving to Bali and I didn’t want to look bloated in the pictures. It’s ok because it gives us another reason to go out and eat there again!
So here comes the food:
SALAD

MOAR SALAD!!
This is the Smoke Trout salad with Radicchio, green beans and dill mayo. I’ll be honest it’s really hard for me to be very excited about salad and one month ago I was really terrible with my DSLR (aka. Couldn’t take a photo to save my life) so excuse the photos! But the salad itself was delicious! The smoked trout added a salty flavour which balanced well with the dill mayo. THE EGGS WERE AMAZING! This is one they are one of my favourite foods! EGGS!!

Also I found out radicchio is the name of the purple cabbage I’ve been calling purple cabbage my whole life! *mind blown* Thank you Sensei Google.
Rigatoni

MOAR rigatoni!
Then we had the Lamb Ragu with rosemary, chilli and Rigatoni! I absolutely love pasta and this was definitely a hearty and filling pasta dish. The lamb didn’t have an overwhelming flavour which I liked but the chilli definitely isn’t like Asian chilli – there was no burn! This is a great dish for winter/autumn days when it’s a good idea to store some extra insulation!
GELATTOOO!!! :D

Finally we had a small dessert (cause we ended up going drinking after HAHA) and we just shared a scoop of gelato! IT WAS A TINY SCOOP!! I really wish they were more generous with the scoop sizes!

Happy Snaps - January Update!

Time really flies! Already the first month of the year is over - WHUT? HOW? WHERE DID THE TIME GO? That's my response to it! And another part of me is so insanely scared about uni starting again soon. One more month of holiday left! I need to make the best of it! My only regret is that I'm not travelling this year but I shall enjoy the Sydney summer the best that I can!
Here are ten  of my favourite happy snaps from this month! Not all of them are taken by me!
BOO I WANT FOODDD :P
This photo was taken at ARCHITECTS OF AIR - EXXOPOLIS which was a special inflatable structure filled with different colours, lights and really relaxing ambience music! It's really different and an interesting experience! I would recommend it to anyone wants to try something new! It's very chill and a nice place to just relax with friends! Even though it's great I went to a similar architecture 2 years ago - TWICE so it wasn't all too exciting for me!
#nofilter
Maroubra Beach! One of the only reasons why I love Sydney summers is because of the amazing beaches! They are all so picturesque and beauuuutiful! Plus really nice to swim, surf and just play in! ♥ Beaches!
Ling Ling ♡
This was a belated birthday present from a high school friend and it made me super super happy to receive it that's why it's on my happy snaps! And yes she calls me Ling Ling! It was book called the Babe Bible and so far it's prove to be a very insightful read~
delicious cakes :D
What is a holiday without cake? And there was much cake in my holiday (no wonder I gained 3kgs in one month!!). These cakes were delicious though so maybe it was worth it? Tiramisu, passion fruit cheesecake and sponge cream cake with strawberry! ヽ(‘ ∇‘ )ノ

Blue butterfly earrings! I love these earrings! They're so prettyyy!!
Ok I'll stop spazzing over them. But it was definitely a nice little reward after working so much during the Christmas holidays to actually have time and shop for myself. Adding them to my butterfly earring collection!
while waiting for food~
Taken by my friend Karen while we lunching at Macquarie :) Such fun times spent shopping, eating and chilling!
nomnom dumplings
Chinese New Year just passed a couple of days ago and I spent the entire day making dumplings with my mum then pigging out on them! So many dumplings but they were the best ♥ The feeling of making dumplings with my mum is something I cherish as well cause as I get older the opportunities for such loving moments with her will definitely decrease so I'm grateful that it happened!
HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!!!!
PORK!
Part of the CNY family dinner with my mum and step dad! This was one of the mains (there were three different types of mains) and it was a marinated pork knuckle roast? My mum adds a chinese twist to every western dish she makes so I actually have no clue what it is! All I know is it tasted really good~
SO PRETTY <3 td="">
This was from a wild random walk in my neighbourhood even though I had no idea that this park even existed because I've never been to that part of my suburb but I love the way the lights look in this photo! Another thing to love my Sydney's summer!

My last happy snap and it's also the obligatory end post selfie! :) hehe enjoy summer everyone!

10 ways to FEEL SPECIAL on Valentine’s Day!

#FOREVERALONE  #BUTSTILLSPECIAL
Every year around the 14th of February I get really insecure and whingey about the fact that I don’t have boyfriend because I see all these wonderful guys doing really really lovely things that make their girlfriends feel super special – I AM SO ENVIOUS!

But this year I decided to stop complaining about how I don’t have a boyfriend and concentrate on some self-loving plus showing some appreciation to the people I love in my life! SO I came up with 10 things that any single girl can do to make themselves feel special on that dreaded Valentine’s Day!!

1.Pamper yourself!

It could be anything!! From getting a manicure, facial, massage or simply getting a new hair cut! Anything that makes you feel better about yourself can give you a fresh outlook about life!
SO MUCH PRETTY <3

2.  Buy some flowers.

Yes the romantic clique of guys buying flowers for girls on Valentine’s day is great but if you’re single then buy some flowers (probably not on the day cause it’s super expensive but a few days ahead). Arrange them prettily in your room or give them to someone you love that’s really helped you out recently. You can choose your favourite flowers instead of roses!!
Flowers are amazing!

3. Write a Letter or Card for yourself.

This one is super corny but I really like doing this because it’s good to see what I thought and felt way back when! It’s always a fun thing to read! For those up for a challenge write a letter of appreciation to yourself *super corny warning*. For those who don’t have much time just write a simple card to your future self and read it next year on Valentine’s Day!
or one of these meme's will do too :P

4. Treat yourself to chocolate

It’s nothing special for a girl to buy chocolate for herself BUUUTTT this time buy REALLY good quality chocolate and really savour it when you eat it! I’m really in love with Haigh’s Truffles at the moment they’re amazing <3
These are absolutely delicious!

5. Buy yourself a small gift.

For those with the finances go ahead and treat yourself to a branded bag or something! For those of us saving up and really poor then buy something small like a nice piece of jewellery, new nail polish, any type of new makeup! And tell yourself it’s a gift from yourself to yourself!
These are some of the things I've bought for myself over the years!

6. Go and spend time with your close friends that are still single or close family members.
Family is a bit difficult because often they can start questioning why you don’t have a boyfriend but if you’re fortunate with really close parents then spend some time with them! Otherwise meet up with some of your single girl friends – go and spend some time catching up with them and their lives

7. Watch a funny, cute or positive movie!

It’s a nice break from life and the tiring daily grind! I would HIGHLY recommend watching a Disney movie especially watching Frozen! Right now I’m obsessed with the songs on the movie – Let it Go <3
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="270" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/moSFlvxnbgk" width="480"></iframe>
Without spoiling the movie I really have to say it’s a heart warming movie that doesn’t leave you feeling like you need a boyfriend unlike some romcoms!

 8. Cook yourself a meal and really enjoy your own company!

This is for those who are up for a challenge (in other words can actually cook) – cook something that you’ve always wanted to attempt and whether or not it’s success you gave it a go! So enjoy the fruits of your labour! For certain girls who’s hopeless at cooking (like myself…I can only make dumplings) then either take yourself to eat somewhere really lovely that you’ve always wanted to try or get assistance with the cooking so that your kitchen doesn’t burn down!
TOO TRUE...

My recent efforts in cooking - I can only cook dumplings :(

9. Take a picture of yourself and say something nice about it.

This is something SO small but it can make a really big difference to how you feel about yourself. Our self-talk can be so negative sometimes especially on Valentine’s Day because it sucks not to have someone by your side but it sucks even more because you’re reminded of that every 2 minutes! So take a nice selfie and try to compliment yourself!
I like my hair in this picture :)

10. Go to Karaoke!

This is just something I really want to do but honestly as an Asian there’s no better time to go to karaoke and sing melancholic Chinese songs! Bring on all the Jay Chou!
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="270" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/Cb3DrfZ_M5E" width="480"></iframe>
Hope this gives everyone some ideas of how to spend Valentine's Day while making yourself feel special!
#foreveraloneeeeeeeee picture instead of usual selfie :P

Re: Angie and Jason's wedding ♥

<3

On the 9th of November I attended Angie and Jason's wedding with the ceremony at Column Garden in Centennial Park and then reception at L'Aqua! :)
It was such an awesome day plus night! The ceremony started late due to some traffic which I was really grateful for since I was running late also due to traffic on the road.
Damn it city traffic!   Once the beautiful bride arrived and  the ceremony was under way it felt like a fairy tale wedding, the park was filled with white cute seats and pretty pink and white flowers! (I LOVE FLOWERS!)
the happy couple saying vows :)

FLOWERS <3

Imagine just imagine saying your vows here! Fairy tale right?

And of course the vows were very moving - the interesting fact was the couple are both gamers so the ceremony music was game music
which I totally didn't recognise. But I thought that was a really sweet and personalised touch! :) THE DRESS is amazing! Angie looked like Disney Princess or something along those lines! And they both had a glowing happiness and about them that almost make me believe that Happily Ever After is real!
After the ceremony it was very short wait until the reception in the amazing L'Aqua. The view of Darling Harbour was stunning but due to my still noob photography skills I didn't take any photos! So I shall share some of other people's photos instead!
Hehehe

Darling Harbour

L'aqua <3
Looks amazing right? :)
Once we arrived at the ceremony there were canapes being served (DELICIOUS) and then wine, champagne, juice, water and other drinks served on platters available for everyone! Plus the out side was decorated with the same flowers as the ceremony which was definitely a consistency I liked.
MOAR FLOWERS!
CAGES OHH

I wanted to take these home for my room! They are such pretty roses!

Then we were seated in to the room for dinner - the decoration were soooo pretty! The center pieces were more flowers or cages! Definitely different to any other weddings I've been to! And not to mention there were two adorable teddy bear couple left on each person's seat as a present for the guests :3 too cute! The boy bear was my date for the evening!

Me and my date for the wedding TEEHEE!
Now to the high light - FOOD! Overall it was definitely veryvery good and there were two options which is bad for me because I always preferred the other option to the one I received
but that's just a bad habit I have!    For more photos and THE DINNER click :)
